PRINCIPAL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Costa & Associates Structural Engineers, located in West Covina (LA County), California, is a highly reputable consulting firm established in 1981 and is offering a unique opportunity to join its leadership as a Principal of the firm. Costa & Associates specializes in K-12 Public Schools, community colleges, and commercial and industrial projects. The firm enjoys long-standing relationships with leading architectural firms in the LA area. The successful candidate must have a California Structural Engineer’s license and have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the design of building projects involving steel, concrete, wood and masonry construction. Experience in schools and familiarity with Bentley/Ram Analysis software is a plus.

DUTIES - As a principal, you will assume responsibility of projects from the inception of their design to the completion of construction. Duties include communications and coordination with clients, preparing design criteria, designing procedures, producing framing concepts, preparing and supervising the development of calculations, supervising the creation of structural drawings and overseeing the projects’ completion through the construction phase. In addition, you will partake in the decision-making along with the company’s current ownership of the firm’s management and operations.

QUALIFICATIONS—

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University California Structural Engineer (SE) License Familiarity with current building codes and design standards. Proficiency and clarity in communicating verbally and in writing in English. Ten or more years’ experience in the design of building structures. Proficiency in the use of engineering software such as Bentley/Ram, Mathcad, etc.

Familiarity with school projects and with Bentley/Ram analysis software is a plus.
